Best Answer – Chosen by Voters No, you can't do it without his permission. Sorry. And a $50,000 policy is going to require medical questions. Source(s): agent, 21+ years

No, you cannot. The proposed insured's signature is required whether or not there are medical questions. If you attempt to get insurance without his signature, it will be declined. Source(s): I am an Underwriter for a Life and Disability insurance company.

You should be able to do so, as you have an insurable interest. Talk to an insurance agent about this. If you are fortunate enough to be independently wealthy, you don't need insurance.

You need his signature….Ridiculous as it may sound, you cant require him to get coverage if you are married…but if you are divorced, you can get a court to require it.Life insurance isnt about him, its about the ones he leaves behind. Tell him to stop being so selfish.

Nope. Since life insurance is a contract, ALL parties involved in the contract must sign the document(s).

You can (and from what you write – you must). Apart from insurance agents/brokers, you may search the web for online policies. Some do not require consent of the insured person, only of the policy-owner, provided the policy-owner has an insurable interest – which you have as a spouse. Insurance carriers do require the policy owner and insured individual to sign all forms. In addition, when applying for a policy of $50,000 there will be medical questions and even underwriting (ex. exam, blood and urine samples). You should discuss with your spouse the pro's and con's of having a life insurance. In addition, depending on the state you live in you should talk to your tax advisor on the pro's and con's of you being the policy owner and beneficiary versus just being the beneficiary. Depending on the situtation, if you are the policy owner and beneficiary at claim time the death benefit could be taxable. Source(s): experience in the field.

You do have a right to have a policy on him as you have insurable interest. However you can not take out a policy with out the consent of the other party. There is underwriting that has to be done including possible bloodwork. He will need to sign to have this completed as well as giving permission HIPPA for medical records to underwrite the policy. If you find someone to claim they can does any other way you are probably not dealing with an moral/ ethical company and I would have questions when it comes to claim time if they would pay. Good Luck
