Here is a link to a website that will help you. They offer online classes and they also offer classroom lessons. They also set-up the test and everything for you. How much time and cost depends on your state.http://www.adbanker.com/Once you get your license you will want to get contracted with various companies. I sugegest looking at various FMO's/Wholesalers who can help contract you with them. They tend to offer various trainings and support for you as well. You will see their ads in magazines like Broker World and Agent's Sales Journal. Call a few of them and see what they have to offer. Good luck to you.

As stated above, it depends on the state you live in, but I would start by checking the web page for your state insurance department. They will tell you the steps necessary to get a license. In GA you have to sit through a 40 hour course and then schedule and take the test. The department web site tells you the names of the companies that give the class and you can contact them to schedule it. Although you can get your license without being contracted by a company, you must be contracted by someone to continue the license at least every 2 years.Good luck! Well, it depends on your state. In most states, you just contact the state dept. of insurance, and they can tell you where the testing facilities are. Sylvan does them in my state. You have to pay around $100 to take the test, and it is 100 questions per line of insurance.Good luck!!! Source(s): Agent

I don't know about the other states, but in Texas this is not possible since you need an insurance company to sponsor you.
