How do you check to see if a person has any life insurance after they pass away?
Undecided Question
How do you check to see if a person has any life insurance after they pass away?
My mother passed away and her affairs are a mess. Different agencies have been calling about life insurance policies she took out. I was told somehow you can contact some agency/system and they will send letters out to all insurance companies in the state reporting the death. Does anyone know how to do this process?

Sorry for your loss. I doubt that there is an agency that will contact all life insurers on your behalf.Go through all of your mother's financial papers and look for any evidence of life insurance. For example Bank statements might have payments to a life insurance companyCheck with her home and auto insurance company to see if they also sold her life insurance.Check with where she worked to see if there was any group life insurance in force. For other ideas please have a look at this page: http://www.canada-insurance-source.com/L…Best wishes to you

You can try MIB. All life insurance policies get processed through them. But there is no guarantee. There is no such agency that sends out letters to other insurance companies. That is a SCAM.Call the Department of Insurance in your state if you need help. Source(s): http://www.mibsolutions.com/lost-life-in…https://www.aipso.com/links.asp

Insurance companies require paying premium at regular intervals. They'll send reminder by snail mail for this.If you get such letter go over it and claim your policy. Source(s): http://www.autoinsureusa.info/

Not true. Whoever told you that was making it up.You need to look in her checkbook. If she had life insurance, she'd be paying for it. The easiest, fastest way to find it, is to look through her cancelled checks.WHAT agencies are calling about life insurance policies? If they're offering to find them for you, for a fee, it's a SCAM. They probably saw her obit in the newspaper, and are now trying to scam you (horrible, isn't it?)

There is no such process. The next of kin needs to go through her personal records – that's where the documentation should be.
