Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Ok, it doesn't matter WHO she "left the policy" with, the only person that gets the check, is the named beneficiary at the insurance company. So whomever she told THEM to pay, they'll pay. It usually takes 2-4 weeks AFTER they receive all the document, IF the policy isn't contestable. If she died of cancer, and has had the policy less than two or three years (time frame varies by state) it's likely going to take a LONG time, like six months – because they are going to request all her medical records, and cross check them against the answers on the application, to see if she lied about anything. If something on the application contradicts her medical records, they deny the claim. Source(s): agent, 21+ years

Just take 2 or 3 weeks the payment will payout.

If you have filled out the forms and supplied a copy of the death certificate, It will probably take a couple of weeks to a month.

Also you might the beneficiary on the policy certificate that you have, but that doesn't mean that you are the current beneficiary. This is changed all the time and the company will only send out a new certificate if you pay $10 – $20.You might also try calling the company to see what the turn around time is (they could also tell you if you received the paperwork in good order). This would be more productive for you.
