Best Answer – Chosen by Voters If you are the executor of her estate, you can pay $75, and fax over the documentation, to these guys: http://www.mib.com/html/lost-life-insura… who will give you a report of any APPLICATION submitted on her life, in the past ten years. Then you can contact those companies, if any, to see if they have an active policy. A few more thoughts . . .most people die with NO life insurance in place. So whatever makes you think she's got a private policy, in addition to the one through work?? THAT'S where you should start tracking down. Also, her valuable papers, a safety deposit box at the bank, and of course, you'll have to go through her cancelled checks – if she has a policy, she's had to make a payment every year to keep it active. You can also check with her insurance agent, accountant, and lawyer, if she has any.If you're not the executor of her estate, you'll have to ask them to do it – every one of these people will need to see proof that you're entitled to the information – and it's private.Oh, that means – if you're asking, is there a central database somewhere, the answer is no. The best suggestion I can offer is to audit her checking account. If she had a personal policy, chances are she had to pay a premium at some point. Most likely it was monthly or quaterly but it could be semi or annual. So look through old checking statements for a reoccuring bill of a set amount and there you might find what your looking for.
