It varies by individual. In some regions and for some drivers, State Farm has better rates, but in some areas and for some people, Farmers will have the better rates. You could also always check with an independent agent (these are the insurance offices without and insurance company in the name…like John Doe Insurance, or Springfield Insurance). These agents issue insurance for numerous companies, so they can do the work to find the cheapest company for you. I'd suggest getting quotes from State Farm, Allstate, American Family and an independent agent (if you have all of those in your area). Also, if you have multiple types of insurance (like Homeowners also) ask about getting multi-line discounts. After you find the best rate…ask the agent's office if he/she is staffed sufficiently. Explain your dilemma with your Farmer's agent and that you'd prefer to give your business to an office that would appreciate it and be available to assist you….or at a minimum return your calls. I had Allstate before, my agent was great. But the rates kept getting higher. For you, I suggest getting several quotes from different companies. But after a year, do it again because they will slowly increase the rates up on you like they do with me. They figure most people don't like to change companies and do the price comparing. I was one of those people. If you lived in Michigan, I'd recommend the company I am with now; the best rates I could find plus a great agent. And I did a lot of quote requests.Anyways, Good Luck.

That's crazy… I work at Farmers and are sorry to hear that you cannot get a hold of your agent…I would suggest you escalate your problem to the corporate office, they will be sure to pay attention Source(s): FIG Executive Assistantwww.farmersinsurance.com

For some people, they're cheaper, and for others, they're more expensive. You won't have any way of knowing how they compare, for YOU, without getting an actual quote.

autoinsurance.maclenet.com – I switched to this car insurance from them, cause it gives much cheaper rates in my area.
