I just went through the same thing with my brother. He had recently been diagnosed with cancer. I posted here and got some great responses. The company that helped us was located at http://www.lvhealthins.com Because of my brother's condition there is a two year waiting period before full benefit will be payable but it is with a great company and the people there at Insurance advisors were great to work with. They listened to our problem and were also able to help me with Health Insurance. It works out well that you are from Texas. They are based in Texas and Nevada. when it comes to insurance, sadly, it is often difficult to tell the difference between the reputiable companies and the scams. That being said, there are a couple of issues. Firstly, how's thier health? if they are both in good health, of similar ages, they could save on premiums by purchasing a joint universal life policy which pays out on one of the two lives.A "joint last to die policy" sounds like something that would solve this problem. A JLTD pays out on the second death, Is there enough funds available to pay for the first funeral, leaving the policy to pay for the second??? if so, this may be an preferred option. If the first funeral expense is a problem, a Joint First to Die Might work, but the premiums are more expensive.
