Do golf clubs get ruined if played during the the cold winter weather?
Would my golf clubs get damaged and/or break if I played during the NY winter weather? (I can't afford to fly to warmer climate states so I'm stuck here for now until spring comes along)

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters frozen ground will damage them. please do not leave in trunk of car overnight. dry thoroughly after using. let them sit in the house for two hours before drying. the epoxy binding head to shaft will weaken with continued use. if you do have backup set, or can purchase quality used set of irons for good price. is the best way to go. leave woods out of bag. to dangerous to hit of cold fairway. graphite shafts. very good possibility of breaking. steel shafted irons . used sporting goods store. new york try flea market. good spare set 35 to 50. best way to go. I've played in the cold Iowa weather til December last year and started up again in March and have had no problems with and of my clubs. If playing in the cold I would suggest some gloves (golf specific are nice) Footjoy (Wintersof)makes some nice ones as does Mizuno (Thermagrip)

the clubs will be okay. change your grips before the cold weather comes as this will provide a better grip in cold weather and wear gloves on both hands so you retain a sense of touch in the cold.

No !! Clubs usually stand up well to weather. It would be better if they were not stored in an unheated garage for the winter.

If it's just for the duration of the round no. It's the constant exposure to heat/cold that ruins golf clubs.
