Do you that the Braves paid Derek Lowe too much?

i mean come on 4 years 60 million!!!!

Well he does work with the devil, I mean, Scott Boras.

He pitched at comfy Dodger Stadium, and Boras is his agent. What do you expect.

um yeah

Scott Boras is the one that got him that money.

Agreed, Derek Lowe has an extremely high ERA in Turner field in his career. I don't think he will play any better at Turner than Dodger stadium, especially with less run support on a Braves team that isn't good offensively. They could have paid him a little less.

NO too much but what could they do they needed him bad. Thats why my Yankees over pay they needed them.

Lowe is worth it. Like you and I would not have taken that amount? Well, it's not coming out of our pockets.

Yes.

Hey, Lowe finished 6-1 with an era of 1.27 in his last 10 starts, carrying the Dodgers to the playoffs, and has one of the greatest sinkers in the game which allows him to keep the ball on the ground.

You're saying he doesn't deserve C.C. Sabathia money?

Honestly…I became numb to baseball salaries years ago..The big surprise to me is that he got the 4th year. But that's what you get when you ignore my warnings to NEVER look Scott Boras in the eye.

Forget about ERA and the NL East..Consider these stakes:
Neither the Braves ownership nor their fans is going to tolerate a "rebuilding" period. Prior to signing Lowe they had a staff made up of #3 or #4 type pitchers (Jurrjens looks like he'll be a good one, but I think you need a couple seasons before calling any pitcher a true #1 or #2…you say "Tim Lincecum"…I come back with "Barry Zito.")

This isn't Glavine-Maddux-Smoltz where you can just install a journeyman and start planning your playoff roster. This staff needs a "go-to" guy, a leader on the mound and in the clubhouse. Besides his record of reliability, that staff needs his character.

Lowe is not going to crumble because he's always facing the other team's Aces and getting no run support. He won't run from reporters and he won't point fingers at teammates. His presence allows every other pitcher on the staff to pitch within their comfort zones.

With all due respect, could Randy Wolf or Livan Hernandez affect a whole staff like that? Ben Sheets is still out there but I have to believe that he's either asking for even more than Lowe or there are real concerns about his health.

Trust me, I've suffered many weak Dodger teams where they lacked a leader on their pitching staff…Having one guy on whom you can rely to step up in terms of performance AND personality is worth more than an ERA can measure.

man **** the Braves Mets all day Mets Fan here

Yea…Lowe is what 35,36…im glad Omar smartened up and decided to stick to his original offer because there is no way in hell he should have gotten a 4 year 60 mil contract. Have fun with another Mike Hampton Braves fan's……Omar is a genius, he's got something in the works as we speak

he was looking for 5 yrs 75m so they went less yrs but same amount of money and they may have slightly over paid but it keeps him off the mets roster so that they can compete in a division where they have an outside shot bc theres no sure thing with phillys rotation and the other "good" team is the ny choke artists i mean mets so why not if they win 85+ games this yr and he wins 15+ it was worth it for them
