Yes it hurts very bad. And even worse in the rain. Brands like Titleist and Ping make hand warmers and very warm mittens that you can use in-between shots that make a huge difference. Cold hands can ruin a good round it's all about keeping it from happening.

The first thing I want to touch upon is the effect of cold weather and the hands. From experience, because of exposure when the hands get cold they get stiff. If the hands lose their feel you're in for a tough round. Try to protect them between shots. It doesn't matter whether you carry your clubs or drive a golf cart, the hands get exposed to the elements. The need for protection is a necessity. I recommend a pair of cart mitts. Cart mitts are nothing more than overgrown mittens. And as the name implies they were designed for golfers in carts. The're easy to slide on and off between shots. Wear them while waiting between shots or walking to your ball. However, I don't recommend swinging a club with them on as the club could easily slip out of the hands. If the shot isn't hit in the sweet spot of the face, there is a tendency for it to sting. The same if true if you are hitting from frozen turf.Try to keep the hands as warm as possible wearing regular mittens which you will remove prior to hitting the shot. You should not use too tight a grip on the club.

It hurts usually when I make a mis-hit. When I make solid contact it just slightly tickles Source(s): I'm a Golf Nut.
