1. Have fun, relax and enjoy the game.2. Keep the ball in play. Always try to advance the ball so your next shot is improved. The worst shot in golf is one where you have to take penalty stroke.3. Pay attention to how your hitting your clubs, which clubs are working and which aren't, your ball flight tendencies, etc. and try to make better club selections during your round.4. Perfection doesn't exist in golf. Take the good and forget about the bad. Your next shot might be your best and completely turn momentum in your favor. Close enough is often good enough.5. Don't give up on any shot.6. Stay down on the ball to execute the shot you want. Don't get ahead of yourself and pull out of your shot too early. Lifting your head up is probably the most common symptom – you can't wait to see where the ball goes. Resist the urge to do so.7. Chipping and putting is where you can eliminate the most strokes. Practice.8. Focus. Aim small miss small with every shot.9. Perfect your alignment so you can at least start every shot aligned correctly.10. Keep track of your game like fairways hit, greens in regulation hit, scrambles, saves, putts. If you don't know what those are, look them up. If you do this for a while, you'll learn what your good at and what you need to work on.

The old joke is the best way to improve your score is with a good eraser. As said above, chipping and putting are keys to lowering your score. I used to hit the ball a long ways. I could hit most par 5's in 2. I would then 3 putt for the par. Or I would be just off the green and chip and 2 putt for the par. That is why I could never break 80 on regular courses. You do not want to use a short iron, a chip, and 2 putts if you can help it. If you can eliminate one of those shots on a regular basis, you will bring your score down drastically.

remember these the tee shot just needs to get you a shot at the green often the driver is not the best choice to do thatyou will not hit every green so learn to chipask yourself could i putt this even though it is not on the green if the grass is too long to putt through ask could i use a 7irononly if the answer to both is no grab your wedge

the best way i can tell you is to go to the putting green. practice at least 30 minutes on making 3 ft putts. and then spend another 30 minutes chipping with a 8 iron. if you do this you will cut strokes from your score in 3 weeks. as for driving longer you must hit up on the ball when teeing off. and follow through. nice and easy, use your whole body not just your arms when swinging.

Golf is designed to be half putting. In 18 holes you are expected to take 2 putts for each. If you can't get the ball close enough to the hole on your first putt so you can sink the second one then that's where you start. After that play smart. Most players consistantly underclub for shots which is why their scores are high. If you think it's a four use a three and keep doing that until you are consistantly going over the green. Don't try for the dramatic shots. You aren't Tiger. Don't complicate one error by making a second one. And slow your swing down. The best golfers I've played with aren't young guys with lots of power, they're older men who have a slow smooth swing and keep the ball on the fairway.Have fun and remember it's only a game so enjoy the time outdoors and enjoy the scenery. Most golf courses are truly beautiful places to be.

Swing slower!!People think that if you try to kill the ball then it will go farther if you swing slower then you will golf better and also have less putts by putting into a cup in you're house somewhere. My Dad always told me this:"Drive for Show""Putt for Dough"

Work on your approach shots, chipping and putting. Those are the scoring shots.

just hit the ball straight, and be consistent in your swings. When you are driving the ball, use a slow take back, and swing through the ball nice and easy, dont try to crush it or you'll end up forfeiting accuracy. You should probably work on the short game too, like putting, thats what kills me
