How come no one wants to play for the Boston Celtics?
Jermaine O'Neal didn't want to be traded to them, and now Kevin Garnett said the same thing. To top it off Paul Peirce is fustrated with Boston and wants to be traded away. Are the Celtics that bad? Or is it something else? I would think a lot of players would like to play with such a historic team, with a winning history.

I mean these guys want to win, Boston doesn't look like a plce that really wants to win. Honestly history doesn't mean much to superstars now. Look at Pierce he is one of the better players in the leugue being in Boston is no helping his career in anyway (he should be alot more angry than Kobe)Fans are leaving Boston because they suck, these guys are just trying to bring in a superstar to get the fans back, they are not serious about winning. Garnett, Oneal and Marrion know this thats why they are avoiding Boston Source(s): Look at how they were complaining about not getting a Top pick. thats what they get for tanking gamesBoston needs a whole new make over starting with the GM

They had like an 18 game losing streak this season. You can't really get much worse than that. There's only 1 player thats outstanding on that team…and he hates the team, Paul Pierce.It won't take 2-3 years to make this a good team. It'll take that long to make them a decent team. To get to the playoffs they need to make smart drafts, since they're gonna be in the lottery all the time, and good smart trades. They can get a young team like the Bulls, or get one amazing superstar, like the Lakers.

the Celtics are that bad, the have a shitty GM, shitty coach, and also they have nobody of any trade value except Jefferson and Pierce and they are unwilling to give either of em up, so thats y a lotta teams won't trade with em so players won't go there and players will say they don't wanna go there since there's no good trade value and they know they wont b there

history is the right word! they are history. their reputation is only a good one in terms of the past….but not of the present.the front office created a total mess over there and they are darn near holding Paul Pierce hostage with the promise of recruting veteran talent.and then of course….there's Danny Ainge. nobody wants to play for him. simply stated.oh yeah….and they suck pretty bad too.sorry

Because these players are stars and are proven. They've been on play off teams in the last few yrs. The celtics are in a rebuiding stage and no veteran really want to be apart of that. They want playoffs and the championship. The celtics are probably 2-3yrs away from being a play off team as they stand now.

other than the fact that most of the players that they want to go to boston are black and Boston is considered a terrible place for minorities . They have a great tradition and won alot of championships but like in most sport franchises what have they done lately.

Key word "Great Historic Team" this team is far from Greatness, I don't think they're horrible I just feel that they don't have enough Veterans on the team…….. Actually they only have one in Paul Pierce, this team needs more veterans and more skilled, Experienced players if their going to make any noise in the east!

The problem is they have been bad for about 15 years now. Some people think they are cursed. It started with the death of Lynn Bias and then Reggie Lewis. People are superstitious. Danny Ainge might be the problem also.

They suck right now and looks like they are going to be in the lottery for the next couple of years.But it is mostly because of the dumbasss the celtics have as the GM. Look at all the good players he has trade in the last 3 years and he doesnt show loyalty towards his players. Him and Jermaine don't get along after they played during the 2005 playoff(I think) and the Gm called him a cry baby.It is just the GM

Basically, i think the case with the Celtics is a two fold issue. Number one- everyone believes there is a curse on the Celtics because of the Len Bias's death. Being that when they drafted Bias they had a lot of good talent like Bird, Parrish and McHale. By drafting Bias, it would set the team up and would have had a championship talent team. After his death, it shocked the organization and they never rebuild their team. Number two-With managment, the draft choices weren't same. Red made good draft decisisons is Bird and McHale. When he stepped down, the replacements didn't have the talent and didn't fit their role on the Celtics team. In essence, when Red drafted he found workers. Guys to do the little things besides the big things to help the team win. When they changed management, mgmnt neither drafted picks or signed free agents the same way. This is the same with a lot of teams. They simply do not prepare for when their superstars leave or retire.
