Golf Galaxy has a program called "Demo at your door." It's a 5 day program where you can request a club and they will send it to you for 5 days via Fed Ex 2nd day air for a nominal fee (depending on the club or iron set you are trying). You use the club(s) on your home course during the 5 day period that you select and then use a pre-paid label to send the club back to them. They also include a voucher good at any Golf Galaxy location or Golf Galaxy.com for the amount that you paid for the demo. That voucher is good towards the purchase of that club. It's a super program. I used it to buy a new driver and was able to try the Nike Sumo square before I wasted my money on the trash. It only cost me $25. Had I bought it new and used it I would have lost about $150 worth of value.

the guy above is right the club pro or the guy at whatever shop you go to will let you try them out in the store, and sometimes out on the course with a demo club.

You find a demo day near, many public courses will have a manufactuar's demo day, these are the best times to try it on the course. Instead of trying it on the course, go to golf galaxy and use there simulated area, it is pretty accurate, it tells you distance, launch angle, swing speed, ball flight, and ball speed. Good luck finding the right driver.

Locate a good size golf retailer in your area, like Dick's, Edwin Watts or Golfsmith. They have demo clubs and a place for you to hit them. Also look for "Demo Days" at golf courses near you.

Most places like that will let you borrow clubs by leaving your credit card. If you don't come back, they charge you.

Most golf courses let you demo clubs for free all you need to do is leave your name and then you can play a round and see how you like it.
