Best Answer – Chosen by Voters The correct way to throw a roller is to give the disc an extreme anhyzer angle (rhbh). If you are right handed that's when you have the right side of the disc lower than the left. When you are about to tee off aim from head level instead of chest level as you would for a regular drive. Swing down and across, the disc should fly a short distance almost vertical in the air. Once it hits it will lift up and start rolling. It takes a little bit of practice, but is worth it. Also make sure you're using an understable disc ( Roadrunner, Sidewinder)… it's easier to roll with these. If you don't have one throw a really fast disc. I can usually get mine to roll by using an overhead toss, much like throwing a football. try to angle it depending on the wind of the day. the wind variation will cause you to have to either angle the disk more out or in on your throw. it takes some time to get used to getting the disc to land on its edge consistently but once ya learn the action ya can get it to roll a long distance. make sure your arm is really loose before doing this or else you will throw your arm out and you won't make it to the end of the course. once you are loose don't try to over power it with your arm, remember that the rotation is all in the wrist movement.be careful of getting too much height on your throw also. the disk will come down hard on its edge and just bounce back up and flatten out where it lands. its a tricky thing to learn but practice makes perfect. try finding an empty football field and practing before going out.

Throw it w/ a standard sidearm with a lot of speed and rotation on the disc and raise the outside edge. The speed and rotation will increase the amount of air across the disc causing it to "turn over" and go up on it's edge. If it does not work use a more understable disc. An under stable disc is one that will turn in the direction of your throwing arm. Understableness can be contributed to the original characteristics of the disc, how worn the disc is and how light the disc is. Source(s): http://www.par-two.com
