Best Answer – Chosen by Voters A whole lot has changed yet at the same time very little. The basics of the game have remained intact hit the ball into the hole. Really though lets go back to about 1950 the real difference was the greens they didn't build them like they do now they weren't as smooth or as fast. Mowers irrigation and multilayer technology can make greens more like apool table today vs the slow carpet of the past. Otherwise Nothing has changed golfers make more money it;s more popular but it 's about the same. More minorities play the game really because of tiger woods promotion of golf that's something to look up if i were you. A ton can be said about equipment but in reality its dead even the golf ball doesn't spin much any more it goes very far and very straight. The ball of the past spun quite a bit and could be maneuvered by the player.Todays golf is one dimensional hit it hard and straight vs work the ball and shape shots. The clubs have changed leaps and bounds but the truth is that it's the Indian not the arrow so who cares the ball has more of a difference the the clubs to an extent hope this helps.

Dude you can't find information on how golf has changed technologically? Not looking very hard are you? You do know that when they speak of woods back in the day, they were actually made of wood. Nowadays, they are made of metal. Balls are way different. Ballata balls were wound. Today's balls are multi piece with seamless covers. The size of the clubheads are way different. The first driver I ever bought had a 198cc size clubhead. The most recent one I bought had a 460cc size clubhead. Time span between the first driver and the most recent driver was 6 years. Let's talk about long iron replacements called hybrids. You can write your entire paper on this single topic. Dig deeper my friend. It is all there for you.

technological advances in club design, square grooves, graphite shafts, metal woods, perimeter weighting, etc… have all helped the players of today hit it further with more accuracy and stop it quicker than they ever could before.I would guess that courses being designed today are probably longer than in years past because of the advances. Many golf carts have gps type systems that show yardages for the course. These are just a few.
