To be a golf course superintendent you typically are going to have to have at the very minimum a spraying license so you know how to spray for fungus, etc. A lot of these chemicals are toxic and not available to the public. Also, being a superintendent at a top golf course you will probably need a degree related to turf management, landscaping, irrigation, or something related. Golf course superintendent salaries vary widely. Some may start at $40,000, but if you work at a very prestigious course such as Wingedfoot, or Pinehurst, you could make upwards of $200,000 per year.
