Best Answer – Chosen by Voters well… yuo would be looking at least £2 million to actually build the basic holes. You then have to build a club house another 500,000. Then you would need to attract memebers. Not only would you have to buy all the different lawn mowers a minium of 5 at 20,000 each. Then you have to hire green keepers. At least 5 if you want the course in good condition, these would cost you 30,000 each a year. you would also need insurance. Trust me .. it would cost an awful lot of money and you would be better suited getting a memebership at a small course nearby…..

there are state and if in canada funds available from parks and recreation. also federal funds available. with volunteer labour from the community very viable. small community volunteer labour and small equipment 9 holes. just over 100.00. including functional clubhouse. it may be out of town . but federal state/province funding is defiantly available. town/city would contribute to clubhouse construction. it can be done with a lot of paperwork. chamber of commerce would jump at this idea. town council would defiantly go for it. maximum gain. minimum investment. property taxes. 27 per year increase maximum after construction completed. brilliant far thinking idea. lot of unemployment means more golfers if price is fair. tourists yes. golfers other areas yes. if declared non profit society golf course tax free status. it would work. and has worked. keeps young people on the course not into a bucket of crystal meth. brilliant outlook. will stop drugs. will assist seniors. worth doing. great great thought. You're looking at a couple million bucks at least, even for a lower end course. There is a lot more involved other than mowing grass and placing pins. The land itself will be a huge expense, and then sodding the entire thing (unless you want people playing a "cow pasture"). Plan on having any bunkers or water to hit over? Those are massive landscaping ventures – and if you think you can get away with just finding land with natural water to build around, consider your territory costs to jump by as much as 100%, and then a whole lot of red tape to get through in order to get permission to landscape around natural water. Good luck though, I always like to hear of new tracks springing up.

One has to be more specific as to the area of the course, whether it is a simple 9 or 18 hole layout, whether the land would require little or excessive earth movement, the extent of irrigation , the availability of water and a host of other information. Once one establishes the parameters , only then can a price for development be estimated.

There are lots of variables.First, do you own the land currently or would you need to buy it?Second, where are you planning this golf course? Land and labor costs vary greatly.Third, what is the climate of your area? Some climates need to have more water than others.Fourth, will you be needing to clear/alter the land to build the course?Fifth, who will your architect be? Famous ones cost a lot of money.I'd expect to lay out at least 10 mil for a reasonable 18 hole 6600 yard layout over 200 acres.Good luck!

If those prices scare you, what about a driving range with a chipping area and a Putting practise greenThat would fit on 5 acres instead of a 60 acre full course, and would include the disciplines needed to better your golf game
