Practice hitting your different wedges around the green. It's just like baseball. If you have never played it would be hard to hit the cutoff man. If you practice throwing every day you get alot more accurate. It's the same in golf. You get a feel for the clubs and you become alot more accurate the more you practice. A tip for your short game is try and get the ball rolling as soon as possible from around the green. Don't try and fly most shots all the way to the hole. Chip it to clear the rough/fringe and get it rolling like a putt sooner than later. This will really help you with your control. Also don't just use one club around the green. Try anything from a 6 iron through lob wedge. Imagination and creativity will be one of your greatest assets with your short game. Good luck.

I use to have the same problem with my pitching. You need to have the ball just inside your right foot(if your right handed) this will get the trajectory higher and increase the backspin which will help the ball stay on the green.

Scoring is done in the short game….. Thus Spend 75% of your practice time on short game. chipping, Pitching and putting. on the range you only need to hit your driver 4-5 times….the rest of the time hit your short Irons to specific targets. Concentrate on precision not distance
