Well peronsally I think you should take private lessons from a guy I know name karchinski he is totally awesome. If that is not possible maybe ask your wife to teach you I hear she is a great golfer and she is pretty hot. If all else fails go to http://www.golfonlinetips.com/articles/6… just copy and paste this code into your address bar for tips from your fellow golfers.Have a great day I will see you tonight (if you know what I mean)

the best advice i can tell you is. go to walmart buy you a full set with bag. get you some good balls and go play. if you want to learn to hit better go the driving range and dont hit for distance but placement. pick a spot and try to hit it. but just start out with some cheaper clubs. i have never had a lesson. i have taught 14 people how to play better than me. it takes them about 6 months. golf is a never sport you can win only play so have fun.

the best advice for a beginning golfer is to never take golf advice from your wife!

if you reall think this is something you are going to enjoy, then take lessons. And keep in mind, one lesson is not gonna get it done. It takes about five to really have the pro get your swing all set. Do this at your leisure and practice everything he teach you at least twice a week between lessons. As for clubs, the guy above is right. Dont get the cheapos. Buy used, do some research and and maybe take the first lesson with borrowed clubs and get the pros advice on what a good inexpensive set would be for you.Do lots of research – there are a lot of good resources posted above.

Buying clubs: When buying a first set, don't do what too many people do and buy a "starter set" by RAM or many other companies. These sets do not last and will make your game worse (well maybe not worse but not better). You are better off buying clubs off of EBAY. You can get a used set for somewhat of a cheap price. Other options may be Rock Botom Golf for a nice set. They sell clubs that may be a model year old. Don't spend too much because if you chose lessons and improve, you will want to get fitted for a good set.As far as playing, stick with playing smaller courses in your area and DO NOT PLAY 18 holes early on a weekend. You will really aggravate your fellow golfers. We undertsand but playing a 6 hour round is not what we want to do when we are playing behind you.Lessons: These are very good ways to learn. They can be pricey though and may cut into actual playing time.Golf Channel: Watch the various golf academy shows. They really helped me. Books and mags: These can help too and may becme pricey too. I know "Faults & Fixes" was a VERY good book and helped me a lot. I also subscribe to golf mags but because I like reading them. The bottom line is have fun playing golf. There is a VERY good chance that you are not making the tour and all your concern is and should be to better yourself and break your own records. for a beginner my advice would be mostly to relax. the golf swing isn't about muscle. its about fluidity. don't grip too hard. on a scale of 1-10, i'd say make it about a 4 or 5. don't try to kill the ball. learn the proper grip, posture and set-up. if any of these are off you don't give yourself as good a chance to hit consistently. practice practice practice, don't give up on yourself. you are your own worst enemy. and try this…take a golf club backwards and swing it back and forth slowly at first. then faster. then try to make that whoosh noise. you want that whoosh sound to come at the bottom of you swing. thats when your swing is the fastest and you want that to happen right where the ball would be. Sorry for typing so much, i just love getting people into golf. Good luck!

Go to a Pro and take a lesson or a set of lessons to get a good grasp of the game and also the etiquette. As far as clubs go do not spend allot of money on clubs others might tell you to but you are better off going to a store that sells a club and bag combo type of deal to start. My dad is a golf pro and told me that when any body says that those clubs are no good to tell them that Buddy Alin was a tour player in the 70's and won the Greensboro with clubs that he had to buy off the rack in a Sears store. So they will work for you. Source(s): Ma Father is a golf pro.
