Assuming that you have a proper golf swing…. somewhere between the start and end of your back swing, you are simply turning your wrist. I think the best tool to use to discover swing problems is a big mirror so you can look at you positions front and side view. Swing in slow motion in front of a mirror while paying attention to your wrist ( front view side view etc..) and you will soon identify when this opening of the club face occur.

Get your 7 iron and hit a entire bucket of balls as low as you possibly can. Dont sway forward and dont change your ball position, just try to really deloft the club face and trap the ball. If your casting the club or have too much angle in your left wrist at the top of your swing, it will be really hard for you to trap the ball at first. Now you dont want to deloft the club on a regular basis, but practicing that in an exaggerated way will teach you to square up that club. Source(s): Ball joints dont hinge groucho

Take your normal address position. Keep your spine angle in its original address position. Next, cock your wrists vertically. As your arms fold, lay the club on your right shoulder. Then, turn your shoulders 90°, and simulating as if you were making a real swing. Lastly, extend your arms and hands as far away from your right ear and shoulder area as you can – as to once again simulate the proper top of swing look/positioning.NOTE: DO NOT CHANGE YOUR BODY POSITION OR SPINE ANGLE DURING THIS DRILL! No Ryan doesn't know? You must hinge your arms at the shoulder joint vertically and NOT horizontally. GL
