What does a back shop employee do at a Golf Course?
Just curious because my really good friend plays at a private golf course because he became a sponsored member there when he was 12, i didn't really get to be a decent player until this year, and it's $45,000 to get in otherwise (i'm 16). He told me to just get a job as a back shop employee, which im good with, but what would that involve me doing exactly?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters I was a back shop employee when I was in high school. You'll be cleaning the members clubs. You'll be loading the members clubs on a cart prior to their arrival so they are ready to go when they do get there. You might be buffing the members shoes. But, because you're an employee you will get to play the course on Mondays only. That's typically the day the private courses are the least busy. Probably doesn't sound like much fun now, does it?

Yes…watch the movie Caddyshack and pay attention to what the character of 'Porterhouse' does…..you'll clean clubs, shine shoes, replace spikes….basically you'll get paid very little money to take care of the dirty work that no one else wants to do! Have Fun!!!

Usually those are the people that put clubs together, they do regripping, they might do some sort of maintenance on the golf carts.

I have done it for 7 years its cleaning golf carts helping customers ''TIPS ARE NICE" And picking up range balls.Some other minor duties as well. I recommend trying at a nice public course easy job your the perfect age man go for it.Try part time with another job because even though the free golf is nice a backshop- outside service employee has no futurein the buisness of golf.
