It will keep your hands from blistering if you grip the club too tight. It also helps so the club doesn't slip through your hands when they are sweaty. I don't use a glove, as I find that I play better without one on. My hands don't really get blisters, as i know how tight I can grip the club before it starts to hurt me. I know when i first started playing, I wore one because that is what everyone else did.
