Best Answer – Chosen by Voters An average 13 year old will usually be shooting in the high 80s to up over 100. Someone who takes the game seriously at thirteen though can be shooting in the low 80s, to low 70s. I for example I am 13 years old, take the game very seriously, and have a 6.1 index.

I have just turned 14 and am an 8 handicap. When I first started golf at the age of thirteen I was 26 handicap but got down to 8 in December 2008 just 12 months after I started. I know many 14 and 13 year old's who shoot much lower scores than I do, but I also know many 13 and 14 year old's shoot much higher scores than I do. So I would probably say being a 15 handicap shooting high 80's would be a good first goal for you!Hope I helped : )

Don't worry about score. When my sons were learning( age 12 was when they could be on the course without parents ) they were taught to consider any par 3 over 200 yards to be a par 4, any par 4 over 360 yards to be a par 5 and any par 5 over 525 to be a par 6. In this manner they put no pressure on themselves . They became excellent chippers but never good putters. Both are single digit handicap players and have been that for several years. Source(s): Concentrate on the short game and any iron shots from 80 yards into the green. These are the scoring shots. Even the tour pros have problems hitting more than 12 greens in regulation per round.

Since you are so young, there really isn't a score that you should be shooting. Personally, when my friends and i went golfing when i was 13, i lost every time. I would shoot high 90's id say and they'd shoot low 90's. But now im 16 they still shoot low 90's while i stay at a low to mid 80 average. If you do feal as if you arent shooting low enough for your age, start practicing with your chipping. Thats all i did. While we were at the range all ym friends would do is hit driver, all id do is play a sandwedge and hit yardages. such as 120 yards out the 100, then 85. this made me shoot 10 shots less per round.

Shooting around a 90 every round is a great goal for a thirteen year old. Consistency is key
