Best Answer – Chosen by Voters ASK THE PROS AT THE SHOP BASED ON YOUR SWING WHAT IS BEST.My point is that Jack Nicholas won over 70 tournaments with clubs WORSE than anything on the market now. So you cant buy a swing. Just get a club and practice, that is more important than the stupid club. I know this is not what you want to hear, but you can take any new modest club and drive it 300 yards if you hit the ball right. So, go out and get a swing. That is the real correct answerDavidyour assistant

Take your question to a professional fitter…he will measure you many different ways and make recommendations for you….My most recent experience with drivers lead me to my fitter. I had bought a TM Burner/ 9.5 degree/ stiff shaft (they gave me the 3 wood and a pair of shoes !) I hit this club at the shop and was producing a bit higher swing speed, so I bought it. However when out on the course I could only hit this thing if I totally backed way down…I took it to our local fitter. He measured the frequency and discovered that the shaft was not in the Stiff shaft range, barely in the Regular flex range. With a head speed of 107-110 I need a stiff shaft. He was puzzled because the shaft clearly said Stiff….Ah ! then he measured it's length…YIKKES ! way too long. He told me that a lot of manufactures do this to sell clubs much the same way as the set the hook into me…increased club head speed, achievable with the longer shaft however the added length took the frequency way down almost into the Senior flex range. He told me that unless you buy Top Shelf stuff like the Tour Preferred line with Talylor Made, you will get a good head but the shaft will be of lesser quality but with a great paint job. He replaced the shaft with a True Stiff Shaft and the results have been great….back to banging out 300 yrd drives again !!!!

100 mph for a driver is not very fast. I play a stiff shaft and just found out with a 5 iron my speed is 110 to 125 mph and I'm 60 years old. Technique is the key not equipment. The arms hinge at the shoulders up & down NOT side to side. Side to side = low swing speed & slice. GDLK

Get a Taylormade R9. Even if your swing is not perfect the sheer amount of customization should be able to straighten out your shots a bit. Source(s): I don't need corrective clubs to shoot in the 70's

Get something like a Big Bertha Diablo, or an older Nike SQ. There on sale all over the place. Look for something of a more stiffer shaft, although you may need to purchase a new shaft somewhere else. One love
