A baseball grip where you place the left thumb close to the knuckles and not on the shaft will work just fine. A ten finger grip has the thumb running down the top of the shaft and may cause you some trouble. I played a couple of times with a very good player who used the baseball style grip and he was a very good ball striker. He did position his hands on the club in a very conventional manner and by looking at his grip it was hard to detect that his thumb wasn't on the club. He started gripping the club this way as a teenager after spraining the thumb while playing baseball. You may have to invent your own way of gripping the club but don't be afraid to try the baseball grip or any other that may suit your injury. Try anything but don't give up. Good luck

There are only so many ways to swing a golf club. The proper was is to swing the arms in unison( as one triangled piece ). The grip on the club with the left hand is light. In order to compensate use either the interlock grip where the pinky of the right hand interlocks with the forefinger of the left hand or the baseball grip where all ten fingers are in the grip. The follow thru should be compensated with the body turn and not with hand action. That should relieve much of the stress you have on the left hand.

Go and see a golf pro. There are a selection of grips with different width's to help. Maybe a fatter grip wound help to keep that thumb on the club.Good luck
