Will the Boston Celtics be serious contenders in upcoming few years?
Now that the Celtics stacked up the starting 5. Are they legit contenders for the upcoming years? And the possibility of adding one of the best 3 point shooters ever ( Reggie Miller) off the bench. Also Scott Pollard, Tony Allen, Eddie House off the bench. I think the big 3 of Pierce, Allan and Garnett make everyone around them much better. Everyone is highly motivated and ready to go.. Keep in mind, the Celtics won 49 games a couple years ago with just Pierce and Antoine Walker….
Also, for everyones argument about them being old and winding down, well in 4 years their contracts will expire and we will have a ton of salary cap room to add more players…..Let me know what u think….

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters wow yea they will definetly compete for the next two or three years…how cant they…just think of it they have not 1 not 2 but 3 superstars….not many teams have more than 1….its just like they say on sportscenter and every other sports channel….the East sucks bad….and you know because one player (LBJ) can lead you to a finals in the East….they are determined now to win it…neither of the three have been to the finals…..they know that this is their chance to be the top in their league and win their rings….all they need to do is be accustomed to one another in games…they are ready to go to the finals now….they WILL WIN A RING

IknowBall – your completly wrong, everyone is just hating on Boston. We are the most dominant city when it comes to sports recently when it comes to all major sports. The addition of Ray Allan and Kevin Garnett instantly make everyone around them so much better. Rojan Rondo will make a name for himself this year. He can cause turnovers anytime on the floor, Kendrick Perkins will be fine he just never got playing time. Just be prepared when we come into your city and take u down, because who u going to double cover when the Big 3 come down the court? Check out the Rondo video, I dunno what everyone is so worried about……. Source(s): http://youtube.com/watch?v=_wolAX8hinE

Well i dont think they will be that great cause they only have 3 players just like the nets and look at what they're doing and u cant count on pierce and allen to be healthy the whole season either

The Celtics have the best starting 3 in the league. After that, it's still suspect. No valid point guard and hoping Reggie Miller plays is another pipe dream. They need to get a stronger bench, then start talking about league dominance.

At present they are a contender for the East crown. But I don't think they are a title contender yet with the pieces they have (I think they need a better 5 than Pollard off the bench). I have no problem with Perkins starting, he can be an enforcer & help keep KG clean, he just needs a backup who will play major minutes who can score to compliment him. And, no, being a contender for the East does not make you a title contender. Cleveland was *NEVER* a title contender at any point last year, including each and every second they spent in the finals. I'd say right now there are only 3 contenders for the NBA title: Phoenix, San Antonio & Dallas.

I think if they stay healthy, they will most definitely make a serious run at the championship each of the next 4 years. At least I hope, us Celtics fans have been through some very lean years since Reggie Lewis died in 1993.RIP – Reggie Lewis

They don't have a stacked starting five. They have 3 great players and a bunch of garbage. They might be contenders in a few years, but not right now.
